Über das Studium:

The relevance of automation technology in everyday life is well-known. Digitalisation forms the basis of everything, not only in industry, but also in private life. The Bachelor Degree Programme in Smart Automation is focussed on these topics known by the umbrella term “Industry 4.0”. Industry 4.0 encompasses the digitalisation of internal and external company value chains as well as product and service offerings and entire business models, all of which are thus revolutionised by it. Furthermore, individual customer requirements are to be realised with serially produced products, optimised decisions are to be made in flexible business and engineering processes, and resource productivity and efficiency are to be increased.

CLASSES

Full-time/work-friendly: 17 weeks/semester
Generally Mondays to Wednesdays
Programme starts: Mid-September

COMPULSORY ELECTIVE MODULES

Students select one out of three compulsory elective course units: product, production or process and handle this topic for one semester.
This individual selection promotes an individualized qualification with respect to the personal interests and occupational requirements of the students.

In the product course unit students gain knowledge on the product development process. By using a guiding example product through the whole lifecycle, students are able to explain, evaluate and conduct requirements analysis, product development, manufacturing and programming, testing and gaining approval.

In the production course unit the students gain knowledge on standard and advanced manufacturing technologies and machines according to DIN 8580 for industrial use. Furthermore, the students are able to discuss about metrology, parts quality and use the knowledge for production-oriented design. The students also gain knowledge in the field of additive manufacturing and the virtual factory.

The process course unit deals with all kinds of material handling, from gases, liquids and solids to parts and products, ranging from simple pipes to complex supply chains. The students are able to conduct process engineering and design logistic systems.

Qualifikationsprofil:

Students gain specialist knowledge in the fields of IT, electronics and the core areas of automation technology and thereby enable their digitalisation. The studies are completed with skills relating to economics and soft skills.

Berufsaussichten / Jobs:

Today, the shortage of highly-qualified engineers is still an issue, particularly in Austria. Through the interdisciplinary approach of CAMPUS 02’s Degree Programme in Smart Automation students are trained to be able to work in a variety of fields, making them technical generalists. The Degree Programme’s output has also kept the market demand for versatile automation technologists stable for years, regardless of crises in individual economic areas. The elective modules of the Degree Programme offer the chance to work in specialised fields. Not only are graduates wanted for large industrial businesses, but also for many small/middle-sized companies with specialised and highly technologically mature products.
