The internationally oriented, interdisciplinary Master’s Program in Business Communication gives graduates a clear advantage on the job market thanks to the combination of a business and economics background and expert communication skills. Business Communication equips students with the know-how they need to communicate effectively on all available channels in a digitally connected world.

The program focuses on media and intercultural competence as well as diversity, and on how to use these skills strategically in corporate communications. Through interactive teaching, methods and concepts are not just learned in theory but also applied in practice by using simulations and conducting research projects in cooperation with corporate partners.

Studienaufbau

Our Master's in Business Communication is based on three main pillars: Business Communication and Language, Intercultural Business Communication und Strategic Communication Management. These areas pervade the entire program and are approached in a well-balanced combination of academic and hands-on elements, building on our students' existing understanding of fundamental principles of business and economics.

Structure of the program:

  • Foundation of Business Communication (15 ECTS)

  • International Business Communication and Management (15 ECTS)

  • Skills and Competencies (20 ECTS)

  • Applied Research Project (20 ECTS)

  • Research Methods (10 ECTS)

  • Choice of four courses in the field of Business, Communication and Culture (20 ECTS)

  • Master Thesis (20 ECTS)

Qualifikationsprofil

After completing the Business Communication master’s program, students have acquired the following skills:

  • Systemic thinking: Analyzing the interfaces and interactions between language, organizations, and society and using them effectively for their own work

  • Decision making: Critically evaluating a variety of potential courses of action and approaches to solutions and arguing persuasively for the approach of their choice

  • Research: Following current research findings and independently developing and implementing research projects in compliance with discipline-specific academic standards

  • Reflection: Critically reflecting not only on one’s own actions but also on processes in organizations

  • Lifelong learning: Continuously developing one’s own skills and competencies

  • Team working skills: Developing and implementing projects in international and intercultural teams

Berufsfelder

Business Communication students acquire skills that qualify them to gain a holistic overview of a company’s communications and to manage them from a communicative- strategic perspective – both in-house and externally.

Business Communication graduates have excellent prospects when applying for key positions in corporate communications and in the communications industry in general. These positions include, but are in no way limited to, the following:

  • Strategic communications manager

  • Content or social media manager

  • Communication consultant

  • General management

The application process takes place online. It's a rolling admission with three application deadlines (October 8, January 8, March 8).

Prerequisites include

  • a relevant prior degree with at least 180 ECTS

  • with examinations in business/economics worth at least 30 ECTS

  • and excellent english skills.
