"The message, encoded in number 6336 relates to the field of relationships and hobbies and says that You acted wisely having opened your soul to the world, having ceased to demand visible and tangible benefits from it. From now on, nothing will prevent you from doing only what your heart draws you to. You may come across minor disappointments and big trouble on the chosen path. But there will be much more joy and happiness anyway. This is the indefeasible law of the universe, which you must faithfully believe in." (numeroscop.net)

theclosing (AT)

theclosing was started in 2004 in Vienna as a project at the intersection of music and visual art, improvisation and sound design, experimentation and careful arrangements. Having released an EP and two successive albums - 2012’s »theclosing« on Circle Into Square and Fake Four Inc. and 2017’s »dents« on FilthyBroke Recordings -, their third LP »MATTER« for the Berlin-based Anette Records is the first by Daniela Palma Caetano Auer and Alexander Hengl entirely as duo. Mixing analogue and digital sources, sheer noise and harmony, distant sounding snippets from everyday life and processed vocals, »MATTER« further refines theclosing’s experimental sound palette.

Stylistically, theclosing draw on noise, drone, ambient and experimental recording techniques, but also show a knack for off-kilter hip hop beats and the occasional techno groove. It is a mixture the two can successfully translate to a live situation, as 2015’s »Live at Beatmaker Sessions« has already proven. theclosing have played multiple shows with noise rap pioneers Dälek, shared the stage with artists like Zavoloka, Gonjasufi, Buriers, Jel or Cavanaugh (Open Mike Eagle & Serengeti) and have presented their immersive, audio-visual live shows at experimental and underground festivals like Unsafe+Sounds (Austria) or Les Digitales (Switzerland).

FRKSE (US)

Not entirely different from the approach of early SPK or Laibach, FRKSE crafts archaic industrial. Unlike many of his peers who rely primarily on cold synths and icy drum machines, FRKSE builds his sound from a palette of corroded samples that were pilfered from vinyl records and cassettes. These are then sequenced on an MPC to create a bleak but organic industrial atmosphere. Live, FRKSE is hammering away his MPC pads and contact mics alongside visuals to create a murky live-scored soundtrack.

Based in Boston, Massachusetts (US), FRKSE is set to release his latest full length on Iron Lung records called “Desecration Anxiety II” in 2020. He has recent releases on Auris Apothecary, Primitive Temples and his own imprint, Divergent Series.

Strotter Inst. (CH)

The "Strotter" in the decade before World War II were fishing in the canalisation for stocked fat to sell it to soapcompanies. As they were standing on the edge of society, today Strotter Inst. stands on the edge of art and music, working with stuff thrown away by others.

Live, Strotter Inst. is generating dense sound- and rhythmstructures by using modified and manipulated lenco-turntables and various cut or scotched records. The music ranges from a low-fi rumble changing into concrete clicks and scrapes, followed by epic drones and multilayered broken beats to fall back into tricky bass-meditations. The anacronistic machineries have dual roles as objects and as instruments. The first live impact is as installations, then the sounds start to grab the listeners' attention. The auditive level surpasses the visual one. Therefore, the optical comprehension of how the sound is generated plays an important role. In spite or probably because of the analogue creation the structures produce a contemporary and accurate athmosphere in space and time. Strotter Inst. prefers to play in the middle of the audience. The installation is set up especially for each room. Except for the PA, Strotter Inst. brings along all the material he uses.

abu gabi (DE/AT/H)

Vienna based musician, DJ and curator Tanja Fuchs is a progressive force between noise and radical bass vibrance, itching in pop and club cultural stigmata.

She studied music production in Salzburg, music & performance in Istanbul and timebased media arts in Linz. Coming from anarcho-pop and improvisational music she’s an activist solo artist as well as part of the contemporary harsh club duo DVRST. Parkwaechter Harlekin (AT)

Parkwaechter Harlekin comes from the small town of Baden near Vienna, where since his childhood he honed his abstract and metaphorical lyrical style and distinct musical production surrounded by vineyards, woods, rich people and suburban boredom. His music is polished sludge and muddy chrome, somewhere between kitschy pop and experimental rap.

He has released two albums „Liebe“ and „Die Unentschlossenheit der Tueren“ in 2010 and 2013 respectively on the Austrian independent Label Problembär Records and a number of free releases and collaborations through out the years.

His new album „Zum Fleiss“ was released on March 10th 2017.

As part of the Wolkenvorhang collective with theclosing since 2013, he had a hand in booking and supporting many of his heroes and inspirations in Vienna including Open Mike Eagle, Serengeti, Busdriver, Bleubird, Cars & Trains among many others.
